Team Lead Material Planning

Location:

Berneck, St. Gallen, CH, 9442

Contract Type:  Permanent - full-time
Description:

To strengthen our Materials Management Team at Swiss Cosmetics Production (SCP), a member of the La Prairie Group, located in Berneck (SG), we are looking for a team-oriented, reliable and self-driven proactive personality to join us as Team Lead Material Planning. This key leadership role, set in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, combines operational planning ownership with the mandate to improve processes, build team capability, and establish sustainable routines and ways of working that enable long-term stability.

As component planning responsibilities gradually shift from HQ into the factory organization, the role will help shape the future planning setup, including leading through organizational and cultural change, managing temporary dotted-line structures across locations, and progressively building a high-performing team. Given the transformation and leadership demands of the position, a strong on-site presence is required, with remote work only in exceptional cases.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the raw material and packaging material planning team, providing clear direction, coaching, and daily operational support
  • Ensure material availability in line with production requirements while optimizing inventory, reducing waste, and minimizing excess stock
  • Evaluate constraints and assess feasibility across raw materials, components, and internal material flows, proactively identifying bottlenecks and supply risks, defining mitigation actions and trade-offs, and driving aligned solutions across Supply Chain functions
  • Own the re-definition, development, and continuous refinement of assortment-specific sourcing strategies to ensure OTIF material availability for Hero SKUs and the wider assortment while maintaining healthy inventory levels
  • Drive continuous improvement of planning processes, routines, master data, and planning parameters to strengthen performance and reduce dependency on manual intervention
  • Build sustainable, efficient ways of working that remain effective after implementation
  • Collaborate closely with Finished Goods Planning, Production Planning, Procurement, Launch Management, Quality, and Operations to ensure an integrated planning process
  • Build, strengthen, and grow the team over time through recruitment, coaching, development, and succession planning
  • Contribute to the broader planning and supply chain strategy across people, processes, and systems as a member of the extended leadership team

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Analytics, Operations, or a related field
  • Strong supply chain planning experience with solid expertise in material planning, ideally across raw materials and packaging materials
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ideally in FMCG, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food, or a similar industry
  • Proven leadership experience with a strong track record of building and developing high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through organizational and cultural change
  • Solution-oriented, resilient, and able to perform well in stressful and ambiguous situations
  • Strong process improvement mindset with the ambition to create robust, sustainable, and scalable ways of working
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to turn data into insights and actions
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across functions and levels
  • Hands-on, self-directed, and focused on continuous improvement and execution
  • Experience in matrix organizations, dotted-line leadership, and SAP / Abacus / other ERP planning environments is an advantage
  • Very good written and spoken communication skills in German (at least B2) and English (fluent)

What you can expect from us:

  • Varied tasks with a high level of responsibility
  • Collegial, international team with flat hierarchies
  • Attractive location in the tri-border area (CH/AT/DE)
  • 40-hour working week
  • 5 weeks of vacation, increasing to 6 weeks from the age of 50
